Krauss is going coastal for the Interstate Light Heavyweight Boxing Charity Fight Night at Kingscliff for the title event on May 30. The proceeds from the event will be donated to the Cabarita Youth Service.
The Ashford native will face fighter Josh Fredrickson, who is also undefeated.
“It’s actually been my first title fight offered to me. It’s a main event for the 80-kilo weight class,” Krauss said.
Krauss is in training with Darren Finn at the Sapphire City Mixed Martial Arts Centre. He is already fighting fit, but the match means he needs even more preparation. Krauss has been in heavy, intensive training for the event for the past four weeks.
“I knew he was going to fight, but I didn’t realise that he’d have the opportunity he has,” Darren said.
The young boxer recalled his debut in November 2014, and said the pressure was on and his hometown crowd from Ashford made it a little nerve-wracking, but also inspiring.
“So by the time I got up there, I was white as a ghost, I was that nervous,” he grinned.
“Having family and friends there, in a way, kind of helped me a bit, just have that bit of confidence to get in and trying to impress your family and friends. Definitely me brother, I could hear him over everyone.”
Despite the jitters, Krauss took the match with a technical knockout and has been training ever since. He said the time to get ready is a benefit to brush up on his technique, strength and stamina.
“Nervous, definitely nervous. But I know it’s eight weeks away, it’s just kind of helping me to train harder and get fitter,” Krauss said.
