INVERELL Soccer Club secretary Anthony Alliston said a state government grant of $11,200 to the Inverell Soccer Association will go a long way toward helping Inverell Shire Council finally deal with a long list of repairs and maintenance required at the Inverell Sporting Complex.

The amenities block, change rooms and equipment storage room will be upgraded, security lighting installed, the canteen painted with some repair work completed on the storm drainage system.
Alliston said the club had an excellent relationship with council, and was delighted the grant would help towards the costs of the complex’s upgrade.
“Several sporting clubs use these grounds, so we will all benefit from this,” Mr Alliston said.
“The council does a lot of work here and keeps the grounds in great condition so we are very pleased to be able to contribute to the costs of these improvements.”
Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall said it was also unfortunate that the canteen roof tended to leak every time it rained, so work would be done there.
He said council would also replace the old hot water system in the canteen because it had not worked too well of late either.
“Inverell Shire Council has also committed over $33,000 to the project to ensure all the necessary work is completed properly,” Mr Marshall said.
“I met with the soccer club committee members last week, and I’m pleased the NSW government continues to support our small sporting clubs and local councils, as they are so very important to the fabric of our rural communities.
“The Inverell Sporting Complex is a wonderful community asset, and I’m delighted to see the excellent partnership the council has with its user groups.
