It is Jeffery’s third time on the side, but a debut for Lennon. He’ll be a reserve player to step in wherever needed, and said he was glad to have made the team.
“I was hoping, hoping I would. Well, I didn’t play really well at the trials,” Lennon laughed.
“I’ve been playing since I was under 8s. I’ve always loved it, just want to the best I can with it while I’m still at school.”
Jeffery was selected for starting centre. He hoped this chance could qualify him for the combined high school team, and said league is what he plans to do in the future.
“This is a major step, ‘cause this is my third year being selected. And I’ve played one year in the (under) 15s, and two years in the (under) 18s, and I was stuck in the under 18s last year as a 16-year-old,” he grinned.
“It was a really good learning experience, just getting used to the certain pace of it, and to know, for me to go further in my career, I’m going to need to match up with blokes that are always going to be bigger, and older than me.”
The greater western team will meet up with the two Sydney sides, President’s, Southern and Northern sides in a league carnival at Wyuna Bay during the week of last week of May.
Lennon said the sides will have a Sunday to train with their sides, and begin the carnival competition on Monday, May 25.
