Following a run of gold medals and high ratings from critics, Topper’s Mountain recently won the trophy at the Royal Queensland Wine Show for Best Other Single White Varietal with their 2014 Barrel Ferment Gewürztraminer.

It’s a great effort for the Tingha winery that is quickly becoming renowned as being one of the masters of this complex and unique grape variety. Topper’s Mountain, owned and operated by Mark Kirkby, has been the recipient of numerous gold medals over the past few months, along with high ratings from some of Australia’s most respected and renowned critics.
Their Gewürztraminer has been recognised over the past few years as one of exceptional quality, and this result provides some formal recognition.
The Royal Queensland Wine Show is one of the premier wine shows in Australia, and entered by wineries in northern NSW and Queensland.
Wines from all over Australia are entered into each category of the show, some of which are from the largest producers in Australia.
While taking home the trophy, Topper’s also picked up gold medals for they 2013 Gewürztraminer and their 2014 Gewürztraminer, and two Bronze medals for their 2014 Barrel Ferment Sauvignon Blanc, and the 2013 Barrel Ferment Sauvignon Blanc.
