AFTER the closure of Platypus Club back in June, the IDFS board and management have been working hard to gain approval and establish a new long day care centre for the children and families of Inverell.

With the assistance of local member Adam Marshall, IDFS have secured approval for this service and will open Little Sprouts Learning Centre officially on Sunday, August 23 with a family open day.
First day of operation for the long day care centre for children to attend will be Monday, August 24.
Staffing for the new centre has been finalised with Sharon Youman as the authorised Supervisor.
Sharon will be assisted by a strong team of educators and administration and cleaning staff including Belinda Hills, Lisa Peterson, Jodi Knowlton, Benita McElhinney, Carol Harmer and Michael Gordon.
The building at Wade Street has undergone improvements to the inside and outside learning areas. There is a strong focus on natural resources, quality learning environments and inspiring play spaces.
“IDFS are excited to add another quality service to the company structure,” IDFS chief executive officer Nicky Lavender said.
“We recognise the need for high quality early education experiences for the children and families of Inverell and the surrounding district.
Nicky said it has been an exciting process developing the new cetnter, and thanked the IDFS team, board and wider Inverell community.
“We are looking forward to the community coming to visit us at our open day on Sunday, August 23 at 11am to see the improvements we have made, and the continuing investment IDFS makes to early education in Inverell,” she said.
