Cup organiser Heinrich Haussler said an under 9 group was formed thanks to sponsorship from Brighter Access.
Children from across the district are invited to form up to 12 teams of seven for this year’s Cup that will hit Inverell from September 28 to October 2.
“It is something to give to younger kids the chance to be part of such a big tournament,” Haussler said.
“We have got the sponsorship for them, that’s why it is affordable and they get the beautiful strip, and I think that’s something the kids would love to have.”
Haussler said he wanted to encourage fun, sportsmanship, and inclusion for the younger players on the growing, grand stage of the annual event.
He said the main push at the moment for the under 9 teams are adults who can help coach and manage their young players over their time on the fields, October 1 and 2.
Haussler said each team will include one player who is a client of Brighter Access to continue to promote the participation and inclusion of children with special needs in Inverell sport and the community.
He encouraged any interested family or child to take part in the non-competitive matches.
“Seven a side, it’s under 9s, they just have fun,” Haussler said with a smile.
“Forget training and all that. That’s an age where you just have fun.”
The 2015 Mini World Cup will see an under 15 German team and the New Zealand women’s team on the Inverell fields.
Chris Richter is organising a Music Extravaganza on September 29 and 30 at the Inverell Town Hall.
Local talent will take the stage and Haussler said they are hoping to snag homegrown singers Megan Longhurst and Mel Dyer.
The cost per player to register for the Mini World Cup is $60. The fee includes their strip, socks, booklet, carry bag, ticket to the Music Extravaganza and Cup dinner.
