Organiser Jean Muggleton said the society had decided to get in early this year, to get as many contestants as possible.
“Anyone who would like to lend a hand, whether they’re a member of the show society or not, is welcome to come along,” Jean said.
“We’ll have our nominations open until the end of January, and the judging will take place in mid-February to be announced at the show on March 4, 2016.”
Jean said she would like to get the committee up and running so that the event would be as interesting as possible on the night.
“There are lots of rewards out there for young girls who enter the showgirl competition,” Jean said.
“Girls who win locally go on to the zone judging. If they win zone, they go on to the Royal Easter Show and they have a week’s accommodation fully paid for in Sydney.”
Jean said she thought this year could very well be the year that would see the first Inverell contestant spend that week at the Royal.
“That’s what we’re hoping for,” Jean said.
“This year there will be five age groups, from Tiny Tots through to the Open Showgirls.”
Jean said there were no special skills required for members of the committee, but ideas and suggestions would always be very helpful.
