Subdivision project manager and Inverell Shire Councillor David Jones was very excited about this new development.
"It’s going to be good," Cr Jones said.
He has been promoting the NBN rollout in the Inverell Shire for the past six years. He said fibre optic cables were a significant improvement to the copper wires most of the town relies on, because the internet speed was not altered by a house’s distance from the exchange.
"You can be 100kms away, and it’s still the same speed," Mr Jones said.
He said download speeds were impressive, and while most users opt for 100 megabits per second, they can reach up to 1000 mbps.
This was expected to improve in the future as the technology develops.
"It’s going to make Australia smart, especially in regional areas," Cr Jones said.
He believed fast and reliable internet access can counter the difficulties of living in remote areas.
"Having it you can do almost anything," Cr Jones said.
There will be a launch for Inverell Panorama Estate tomorrow, between 11am-1pm. There will be tents and a coffee van set up at the subdivision location on Moore St, across the road from the Inverell Hospital.
