Rain has returned to the region, he said, and with it buyer confidence which had thrown a life vest to many businesses in the rural retail sector over the past year.
The local furniture and bedding stocker picked up the award for five per cent growth in furniture sales, as well as a platinum award for 20 per cent growth in bedding sales over the past financial year.
Ian said, after coming from recent hard times, he wanted to share the award with all businesses in town and see confidence return to the retail industry.
“It’s not all doom and gloom,” he said.
He said the return of good rain over past months provided the boost the local sector needed.
“I’d say, predominantly, it is underpinned by the rain and the conditions that we have had, but literally 12 months ago, we changed up our show room as well,” he said.
“In the adversity of a hard time, you can do nothing or you can try to keep reinventing yourself and make it exciting for your customers to come in.”
