In the 10s minor semi-final, Inverell East took on Guyra and unfortunately lost 42–28. After a solid start the boys were behind 12-6, with the game going from one end to the other, and each team scoring.
However, some mistakes and some missed tackles let Guyra back into the game, and they put on back to back tries to just keep edging in front.
The boys played well to score some good ties, but just couldn’t peg Guyra back.
In the end the boys tried hard but just weren’t quite good enough on the day.
In the 12s major semi-final, Inverell West did battle with Armidale and ran out winners 20–12.
In a really hard game, the boys controlled the play and toughed it out in defence to come out on top.
Everyone played well and can hold their heads high as they are first into the grand final in Moree in a fortnight.
In the 14s major semi-final, Inverell West played Armidale and won 16–6 with no score in the second half.
Commitment in defence was huge in this game, only allowing Armidale one try off a mistake in the first half.
It was a very hard game but the boys showed they have what it takes to win and will be all fired up for the grand final in a fortnight.
The 16s minor semi-final saw Inverell West lose to Glen Innes 38–14.
After a solid start the boys began missing tackles and Glen got on a roll, and kept going on with it.
Too much dropped ball and mistakes in their own half, and putting the pressure on themselves was their own undoing.
In the Senior Girl’s League Tag major semi final, Inverell East lost to rivals Glen Innes 30 – 4 in a bit of a lopsided game.
The girls never really troubled Glen in attack and a lack of commitment to move up in defence just gave Glen plenty of room to run.
They will now have to beat Armidale in the final on Saturday at Kamilaroi if they want a chance to play Glen again in the grand final.
