They turned out to mark the conclusion of several years and over $155,000 of development and improvements to the grounds.

Work wound up just in time for the start of the 2015 Mini World Cup on Monday, September 28.

“It’s fantastic and to have these facilities in place in time for the World Cup, it’s just great,” Cr Harmon said.

Cr Harmon gave credence to the assistance from Brighter Access disability services, and the work of Mini World Cup founder Heinrich Haussler for introducing Cup events that promote inclusion.

“I’m grinning like a Cheshire Cat, it’s great and I know that people when they come to Inverell for the Mini World Cup and they see the facilities we have here, there are a lot of towns that are envious of the facilities we have here, and it’s a credit to Sports Council, to Council, to all those people involved over a number of years,” Cr Harmon said.

“Look, it’s a great time in Inverell.”

Brighter Access service manager Tanya Fox was enthusiastic about the development.

“We are very excited to have been involved in this fantastic project that will create such an inclusive environment in our community,” she said.

Inverell Netball representative Cammy Alliston said the upgrades have been welcomed by the association.

“We were lucky enough to get a grant for the ramp which allows for people at netball to gain access to the courts,” she said.

“But on any given day, there are also people there riding bikes and doing other things, so it’s not just the netball facility, it’s a while community facility.”

Grants for the complex were secured by the Soccer Association, Netball Association, Inverell Sports Council, and NSW Sports and Recreation.

Brighter Access disability services secured Early Childhood Inclusion Grants from the Department of Aging Disability and Home Care toward the project over the past two years.
