Adam the elf
Some say change is as good as a holiday, and Inverell Police Station may be about to pack for a full-blown trip to Fiji at the best resort around. The connection is a media release our Member for Northern Tablelands Adam Marshall sent across the digital airwaves this afternoon. Mr Marshall pled in a case in parliament for our very dated station that in all fairness, pushes our local force beyond the limits for what is fair.

Being a police officer is no walk in the park and a new station could do a lot to make their already tough job easier. In the end, we got the message that the MP has “stepped up his campaign,” so in our collective ponderings, we assessed what exactly this might mean.
In the past, a campaign often led to a done deal, and we’re hoping that is the case. After all, as Mr Marshall said, the 55-year-old station is the oldest of the three 24-hour stations in his electorate.
We’re not disagreeing. As it is, the district population is steadily increasing, and crime seems to be steadily keeping time with that busy dancer.
On the Pulse is behind this campaign 100 per cent. Especially if it means that in a week or two, might there be a hidden surprise under the parliamentary Christmas tree?
An additional hint is that with a present, often comes Santa, and Mr Marshall shared news that Deputy Premier and Police and Justice Minister Troy Grant will stop by our town in December.
Just in time for the holidays.
We’re being news-y
Nose a little out of joint? You could say that. On the Pulse was strolling down Otho Street this morning, and though we’d never admit we’re that quick off the mark, we caught sight of the very shiny new, black and white sign above what many people will always call Syrett’s newsagents.
We’re sure everybody and their mother, and their uncle and his sister’s eldest boy’s girlfriend has seen that sign, but like we said, it’s been a busy week.
The old sign with its multicoloured, multi-news-bannered look is gone. In its place is a succinct moniker, Inverell Newsagency, flanked by the words Daily Mail and Sunday Mail.
No more Inverell Times smack dab in the middle. It was always a little heartwarming for us here at On the Pulse to see our paper on the masthead of that well-attended news hub.
Maybe we’re feeling just a might bit sensitive, but here at On the Pulse, we’re nothing less than survivors. Still, it did smart a little.
