NICK King was pleased and only too happy to help Tamworth’s Scott Chaffey on Thursday, when he rang and asked if he could travel up to King’s gym to workout as part of the preparation for his light–heavy weight Muay Thai state title match at the Central Coast Leagues Club on Saturday, February 27.

“He wanted to come over and do some extra training with myself and four of my fighters here at the centre,” King said.
“We locked in for a two hour session and did some combination skills and drills, as well as some sparring with him.”
King said Chaffey was from a traditional karate background similar to himself, and they were both good friends with 11 times world Muay Thai champion, Nathan Corbett, who had twice held sessions at King’s Lifestyle Centre.
“It was great to know that he was keen to come over here and train with us,” King said.
“It’s a title belt that he’s going for in Muay Thai, so it’s a pretty big step for him. He’ll be fighting full elbows and full knees in that competition.”
“It’s good to be able to do this, especially because he’s so close to the competition. He’s on a heightened level, you know, he’s had to get his weight right for his comp and everything else, and he trains hard.”
King said there was networking between the local clubs.
“We have a lot to do with people who are good at what they do,” he said.
“And we support people who support the similar circle of events that we all support.”
