TINGHA resident John Stansfield restores salvaged bicycles and has offered to give one to youngsters within the community who demonstrate their civic pride by either helping people or cleaning up any litter off the streets of the town, but he went a step further on Wednesday, February 3, when he donated a restored adult tricycle to help out Inverell High School.

“The school actually had three more bikes, exactly the same, and over the Christmas break someone broke into the shed and stole them,” John said.
“Police got them back in a bad state of repair, one over the south side, one in the creek and one in Shirley Street apparently. These things are worth $1800.”
The tricycle was donated by Tingha’s postie, Kym Gagin.
“Kym bought it over 10 years ago and it was $1000 then,” John said.
“Her daughter was special needs, but she had no more use for the bike. So I fixed it all up and donated it to the same school that her daughter, Ternaye, went to.
“I knew when I was fixing it up that it was very well made. The school was over the moon to get it.”
Inverell High School principal Penny Colley said the donation of the tricycle was very much appreciated.
“I know that the support unit were really touched to have an ex-student’s parents come and present a tricycle,” Mrs Colley said.
“It looks fantastic and hopefully we’ll have some kids on it very soon.
Mrs Colley said she would like to thank Mr Stansfield very much for his work.
