Organisers expect many former players and club officials to attend the day on Saturday, May 14 at Varley Oval, when the Hawks play a home game against the Moree Boars.
Committee member and one of the organisers of the day, David Koch, said he is expecting a great day of football against the Moree club.
“Moree is one of our traditional rivals, they also have a pretty good supporter base, and it is with this in mind that we chose this game to hold the old boys day,” Koch said.
It also means that we can get all three grades of rugby league plus the ladies league tag as they also have a junior squad, one of only three Group 19 clubs to do so.”
Koch said the Old Boys Medal presented to the best and fairest player for the Hawks will hold special significance this year.
“The committee, with the blessing of the Trim family, has decided to rename the Old Boys Medal the Terry Trim Medal in memory of one of the Clubs favourite sons Terry Trim. “Trimmy” as he was known to everyone passed away earlier this year and we felt this would be a great way to recognise all he has done for the club,” he said.
Koch went on to say members of Terry’s family will be there on the day and will present the medal at the RSM Club after the footy.
“The club invites all past players and officials and their families to the day,” he said.
“It doesn’t matter whether you played 100 games or one game, or what grade you played, it is open to everyone.
“Last year we had blokes come from all over the place from across nearly every era since the club was formed. It is really a fantastic opportunity for a get together with old friends at a day at the footy.”
