He pointed back to a two-furrow garden bed: “That’s where this all started.”
“That saying is true: from little things big things grow.”
From early days, the BEST Food Garden has expanded exponentially and these days delivers fresh produce to over 100 around the New England and North West.
“From that small, raised garden bed, we are now delivering to four shires and two federal electorates,” Danny said.
“That’s why we leave it there; to remind us where we started.”
The garden checked off another milestone recently, with the first delivery of fresh produce to 10 elders in Tingha.

Danny said the new round of what will become a regular delivery run in the garden’s rotation, brought numbers north of 120 deliveries each week.
“We have always wanted to get up to 150,” Danny said.
“BEST has a big presence in Tingha, in all the towns we deliver to, and Tingha has been in our sights.”
Local Elder Mary Connors said the weekly deliveries were a welcome sight in town.
“It’s good for the elders,” she said last week, as deliveries continue each Wednesday.
Mary said the produce is arriving to around 15 or 16 locals in Tingha, and have helped relieve the challenge of getting fresh goods out to the community.
She said she is looking forward to seeing deliveries continue and expand, as the BEST Food Garden project continues to grow around the region.
