The 2015/16 Multicultural NSW Celebration Grants provide funding of up to $5000 for festivals and events that bring communities together, showcase the benefits of cultural diversity and promote social cohesion.
“The Celebration Grants are about supporting those important events as well as spreading important messages about cultural harmony and cohesion, Mr Marshall said. “Our state and many communities in the Northern Tablelands are fine examples of how multicultural communities can work successfully.
Mr Marshall said he encouraged any non-for-profit community organisation or local council planning an event to consider applying.
Projects are assessed on how many people are likely to attend, whether the project will benefit intercultural understanding and be cost effective. Only not- for-profit community organisations and local councils staging events for the entire community are eligible to apply and applications for this round close on June 17.
