With stalls allowing locals to talk directly with services, lucky door prizes, food and clothing, Trish Thomas from Pathfinders Specialist Homeless Service said it will be a relaxed, fun day.
“People can come and sit and have a meal, sit and chat with people, chat with services, chat with each other,” she said. She said she realised that sometimes it could be hard for locals to meet with the services or know what’s available, and that the event would be a non-confronting way to connect and seek help.
“It’s a nice, relaxed way to come and connect with services that are in the community.”
Representatives from Pathfinders Specialist Homeless Service and Family Referral Service, Armajun, New England Regional Sustainable Housing and Homelessness Group, Juvenile Justice, the Linking Together Centre, and Homes North met on Tuesday to get ready for the big day, which will also run with the assistance of the Salvation Army and Rotary.
