Clubs travelled to the two-day event from as far as Wollongong, Dubbo, Sydney and the North Coast to compete at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment Centre. Maddison Crawford, Miranda Hodges, Chloe Newman and Mikayla Woodbury all competed at level 4.
Woodbury picked up a fourth place on beam and finished equal sixth on floor with Crawford, which was an outstanding result considering there were 16 gymnasts in their division. As a team the girls finished 13th for their age division which was an exceptional result.
But they stayed strong throughout and showed a fair effort.

Elizabeth King, Jessica and Sophie Kastelein competed at level 3.
King displayed some good skills in her routines to pick up scores of 8s on three apparatus. Sophie Kastelein scored 8s on all four apparatus and Jessica Kastelein scored three 8s.
“There was strong competition in this division and the girls were unable to place,” club spokeswoman Amanda Woodbury said.
“But they stayed strong throughout and showed a fair effort.”
“The Country Capital Cup was a good learning curve for all the local girls as they have never competed in such a large competition, with such a high level quality of gymnastics.
Boys’ Club Inverell wished Mikayla Woodbury, Chloe Newman, Sharleigh Kingi-Phillips and Sophie Kastelein all the best as they are going on to bigger things.
The girls are representing the North West at the CHS gymnastics to be held in Newcastle in the first week of August.
