A resolution to to provide a contribution worth $10,000 to the Inverell Chamber of Commerce for advertising of the 2016 WOW Shop Local Program was adopted by council at its July meeting.

The resolution is subject to to council being provided with a report on the expenditure of the funds and the program outcomes.
Mayor Paul Harmon said the council had supported the chamber in previous years.
“It’s certainly not the first time the council has supported the chamber of commerce in a positive way,” he said.
“We’ve supported them for the last two or three years and I’m happy that council decided to support the chamber again.
He said the report to council detailing where the money was spent is a very necessary part of the funding
“It certainly provides an opportunity for the promotion of Inverell, which is what council always has in mind,” he said.
“And casting our mind back a bit further, council did provide $10,000 for the Ute Muster that was run by the Show Society.”
Council has also advised the Inverell Show Society that it is prepared to consider the opportunities for the development of a major multi-purpose building facility on the Showground.
