The Inverell and District Service Family Day Care (IDFS FDC) children, educators and families have got behind an effort to give children without the benefits kids enjoy here at home some much-needed special care in the form of supplies.
“We have been collecting goods donated from families and staff to go to an orphanage in Bali,” IDFS FDC manager Lisa Szumowski said.
From diapers, toys, infant supplies and more, the service collected a healthy cache of goods for the Bali babies. Lisa said the donation drive was the idea of Anne East and IDFS educator Renee Edmonds.
“We had a fantastic response, so much that Anne was unable to pack all that was donated, so Renee and her day care children made a delivery to the Linking Together Centre to be put to good local use,” Lisa said.
Anne is travelling over in August with some others and they are visiting the Metta Mama Maggha Foundation in Denpasar in Bali, with orphans usually under 12 months of age.
