Club president Matt Colley did Inverell proud as the overall winner, shooting 348 out of 350 targets.
“It was just a good day. Everything sort of clicked,” he said. Tyson Kennedy also performed well, shooting 200 targets in a row. Colley said the double barrel competition was well suited to many hoping to gain high breaks badges.
Juniors Noah Mallory and Sarah Edmonds from Inverell and Guyra reached personal milestones on Sunday, shooting their first 50 target breaks. Colley said reaching those milestones were all about mental stamina and that it was an impressive achievement for the pair.
“It's good to see any of your members win or any of your mates,” he said.
“It is competitive but we're good mates at the end of the day.”
A relaxed weekend, Colley said the annual shoot was a good chance to spend time with mates.
He said that as a member of the clay targets club, he enjoyed travelling and meeting new people. Colley said his favourite part of shooting competitions was “the friendship and the competing against yourself”.
