President Tani Richards said the B Grade game at 2pm between the Klutch Kings and Vikings should be the most exciting.
“At the start of the year, the Klutch Kings were very dominant and didn’t lose anything for the first six or eight weeks,” he said. As the other teams got into the swing of things, the season was very competitive, with many games won by just one or two points.
Populated by high school aged players, Tani said it was great to see younger basketballers join up, and said they had “boundless energy”.
“Tires you out watching it sometimes.”
He said the A Grade men’s game between 40 Something and the Saints at 5pm would be fun to watch.
“The A Grade will be a slower, but a harder fought game,” he said.
The Aussies will have something to prove as they go up against F Troop in the women’s game at 3pm, after losing by just three points in their semi final.
“Usually all these teams play very well against each other, and (they’re) used to winning. So very competitive games,” Tani said. He said with so much family involvement, it was hard for some fans to choose who to barrack for.
“There could be some confused parents and grandparents at the games!”
Kicking off the day with a referee course at 9am, the younger players will also have the chance to show of their skills in a 12 and under Aussie Hoops game from 1pm.
