The move is part of a new partnership between Inverell Shire Council and scouts to help distribute educational materials on responsible pet ownership to residential letterboxes.
Inverell Shire Council mayor Paul Harmon attended the lively scout assembly to formally thank the group and hand over a cheque for the Scout’s efforts.
“Rather than distribute these materials through traditional channels, we decided we could work together with the scouts, assist with their fundraising efforts and still achieve the same result,” he said. “I’m delighted to hear this partnership will count towards a new badge for these young scouts”.
Inverell Scouts’ leader-in-charge, Karen Smith said the joint initiative would assist scouts achieve two badges – the hiking badge and also the doing good turns badge. To learn more about Scouts, contact Karen Smith on 0427 070 267.
