Nullamanna Recreation Reserve Trustee Fred Crowther welcomed the funding and said locals were delighted to be able to further improve their hall,
“We have wanted to get on with this project for a long time now so this is very good news,” Mr Crowther said.
Northern Tablelands MP Adam Marshall visited Nullamanna last week to announce the Public Reserves Management Fund (PRMF) grant, said the money would be used to build a storage shed and disabled toilet to enhance the utility of the hall.
“Nullamanna is a proud and active small community with enormous spirit,” Mr Marshall said. “The public hall is in constant use and the local volunteer trustees are very committed to maintaining and improving this important gathering point for the community.
“With fundraising and government grants over the years, the trustees have managed to improve the hall with heating and cooling.
“I’m delighted that through the Public Reserves Management Fund this hard working group can now purchase and install a new storage shed and construct a disability access toilet.
“Providing these funds unlocks the time and labour given so generously by those in and around Nullamanna.
“This is a great outcome for the community and it’s good to see the state government continuing to support our wonderful rural communities.”
The 2016/17 funding allocation from the PRMF program is part of an $18 million annual NSW program of grants and loans.
“Public reserves in our region such as sportsgrounds, showgrounds, community halls, walking tracks and local parks are valued places which are used by our local community every day,” Mr Marshall said.
“This funding is not only vital to the success of our regional communities, but also supports the role our professional and volunteer managers play in the ongoing management of the reserves.”
He said the funds would give local managers the ability to ensure sustainability of regional places cherished by their residents.
