The jeans the students painted for the charity Jeans for Genes Day and displayed at Inverell’s Premier Store were all purchased by a mystery man, who then came to the school and donated a further $50 to the students for their efforts.
The students in turn gave that money to Jeans for Genes, the national charity for the Children’s Medical Research Institute. “It was really lovely for that man to come in and offer that donation to the kids. It was lovely to see they decided to pass it on,” Leonie said.
Teacher’s aide Jen Anderson drew on the jeans and the students filled in the gaps with colour and style.
“We done our own little bits in the painting,” Riley Beeton said.
The students said the mystery man would hang their jeans on his walls as artwork, and felt very good about being able to help out with the charity.
“Proud, because we raised $100 helping kids that are sick,” student Harley Tickle said.
They saw out the rest of the class bridge building, making slime and as a big splash, the students swaddled eggs in tissue and bags to see if they would survive a drop from a height.
