Members of the U3A will take on ‘Let’s Get Physical’: The list goes on. Each of the six decades since the Sapphire Festival started will be represented with song, dance or interpretive routines - from Mickey Mouse to more modern entertainers – to tell a compelling story.
The Breakfast Toastmasters Club, which hosts the event, will announce the communicator and junior communicator of the year during the evening, recognising two people who displayed excellent communication skills as they served their community in the last 12 months.
Last year, Declan Drake and Maggie Thomas jointly won the young communicator title after voters were unable to separate the two.
Declan won from a debating background and Maggie came from the theatre.and guest speaking for the Heart Foundation.
Ann Hodgens, OAM, won the Communicator of the Year, 2015, for her work with the Inverell District Family History Group and the Kurrajongs Recruiting March re-enactment.
Nominations from the public for both categories are still open. Contact event organiser Lorraine Bell: 67210750 for a nomination form. During the evening guests will be introduced to the entrants in the Festival Queen competition, enjoy a meal and entertainment.
