“The support from the community’s been fabulous,” Rotarian Peter Lloyd said.
“You know people come in and buy, and they bring books back and they buy more the next year.”
“I think it’s become an event on the Inverell calendar now. We found we didn’t even really have to advertise for books this year. People just delivered them.”
With more than 10,000 books weighing down the tables, Inverell Rotary had more than enough donations once again this year.
To avoid wasting the tales, Rotarians Bill and Margaret Bottom will continue selling books at the Bingara and Bundarra markets throughout the year.
Encyclopedias, which are often donated but rarely sold, will be taken to countries like Papua New Guinea to aid school children with no internet access.
