Telstra has no date to start constructing the upgraded tower.

“At this stage we are still progressing plans for the upgrade proposal at Yetman,’’ a spokesman said this week.

“This process can take some time and as such we do not yet have a construction time-line.

“We understand the community interest in the project and we will provide updates as they become available.”

Visionstream, on behalf of Telstra, will upgrade the facility at Warialda Rd.

The upgrade will see three antennas removed and replaced with six new panel antennas and six twin tower mounted amplifiers plus ancillary equipment.

“The upgrade will provide 4G connectivity for the Yetman area improving mobile based services,’’ an October report to Inverell Shire Council said.

Council supported the proposal and submitted a letter on behalf of the Yetman community after public comments closed.
