Rick McCosker, famous as one of the heroes of the Centenary Test when he went out to bat in the second innings after breaking his jaw, will be a special guest at the Inverell RSM Club on March 11.
Inverell Cricket Association has planned the evening to celebrate McCosker and to mark the 40th anniversary of that Test at the MCG against England.
McCosker played 25 tests between 1975 and 1980, scoring 1622 runs at 39.56, totals which would have been greater if not for featuring in Kerry Packer’s World Series Cricket.
Inverell Cricket Association secretary Simon Smith said this event was the perfect occasion to welcome McCosker back as a special guest.
“Rick certainly highlighted the town on the sporting map,” Smith said.
Tickets for the evening with Rick McCosker are available from $20 per person via the Inverell RSM Club or Tourist Information Centre.
