Inverell hay runners are getting set to hit the road – but the locals won’t be joining the rest of the Burrumbuttock crew in Darlington Point.

Instead, they will be heading to the fire-ravaged Coolah district on Friday.
“We’re going to drop it [the hay] at the showground at Coolah and it’s going to be used as sheep feed,” local Uniting Church reverend and hay runner Jean Bell said.
Meanwhile graziers in Queensland’s central and north west will also receive some much needed relief this week.
“It’s about giving hope when things are really quite desperate,” she said.
Around 5000 to 6000 square and round bales of hay set off from Darlington Point, near Griffith, and other parts of Australia on Thursday.
“The funds we all raise will firstly pay for petrol and any extra funds will go straight to the Sydney Rotary Club,” she said. “Seeing the land and seeing the absolute need is quite emotional.”
