The Yetman Little Athletics Club is up and running and president Rachel Pender couldn’t be happier.

“The support so far has been fantastic,”  Rachel said.

The small community certainly punches above its weight when it comes to pride and coming together to help each other out.

Much like its young athletes.

“The school – of 19 students – makes the zone and regional finals and it often has students heading off to the State Titles in Sydney,” Rachel said.

It’s just one of the reasons why Rachel and her hard-working committee of parents decided to start up their own club.

She said there are plenty of keen athletes in Yetman but some were put off by the travel.

Having a local club made sense. It will meet at the newly-named Barnes Oval every Monday for training.
