Held at Morgan Park, Warwick from April 20-22, over 600 riders took on three competitions in the four-day polocrosse extravaganza.
“The weekend was a great success,” Inverell Polocrosse Club president Alex Wrobel said.
“It’s always fun coming up to Queensland to play teams we don’t usually play.”
In the Barastoc Cup, Tom O’Brien and Cody Woodward played together in the U21 Men’s competition, up against teams from Queensland and Victoria. Both boys played exceptionally and after years of playing together have become an unstoppable force. O’Brien was awarded Man of the Match in three of the four games.
Meanwhile the first Inverell side showed up teams from Wandoan, Dirranbandi and Cunningham to win the D Grade competition. The team consisted of Emily Gentry, Leonie Buchan, Jess O’Brien, Jade Collins, Lachie Brennan and Alex Wrobel. Jess O’Brien was awarded best horse and rider for the division.
Inverell’s junior team gave their all in the A Grade competition. Darby Brennan, Josh Woodward and Ben and Luke Turner teamed up with two players from Gulgong, coming away as winner of the beaten teams.
The Inverell Polocrosse Club will next head to Quirindi to compete.
