Recently the Ashford Police received a report of 25 Australian White ewes being stolen from the property Jinderbyne near Ashford New South Wales. The ewes were reported to have stolen between February 8-28.

During the theft a brand new fence was damaged, with the offenders leaving the fence and a gate lying on the ground.

The missing ewes have a ear mark in the offside ear (see above picture) and were fitted with NLIS tags NH592417. The ewes are 2016 drop (approximately 12 months of age).

Police are keen to speak with any person who may be able to provide information about the theft or suspicious behaviour or vehicles on the South Valley Road, Ashford in February.

The New England Local Area Command acknowledges stock theft as a serious crime that affects our rural communities, and investigates all reports of stock theft accordingly.

Stock owners can assist police by recording and conducting regular counts of stock, and reporting matters as soon as possible, as delays can affect the success of the investigations.

Stock owners can also assist police by contacting the Rural Crime Unit with information relating to stock thefts, unusual movements of stock particularly at night or any other information relating to suspicious behaviour in rural areas.
