Police reported that an Inverell man, aged 47, allegedly assaulted another male in the early hours of Wednesday, June 14.

The man was arrested on Byron Street following the incident, which took place at the Empire Hotel. The police allege that the male used offensive language and resisted police attempts to arrest him.
Law enforcement agents allege that the male caused damage to the dock area by urinating on the floor and wall, while in police custody.
The male was charged with common assault, two times for malicious damage, failing to leave licensed premises, two counts of re-entering a licensed premise after being excluded, offensive behaviour and resisting police arrest.
He was refused bail to appear at Inverell Local Court on June 15, 2017.
The latest NSW crime figures show that non-domestic violence related to assault is just 1.6 per 100,000 people for Inverell.
Indecent assault, acts of indecency and other sexual offences is at 2.7 people per 100,000. Murder was particularly high at 7.3 per 100,000.
