Three people were arrested outside an Inverell Hotel at dawn on Saturday after a policeman was punched in the face. Capsicum spray was used to subdue people in the crowd.

Police visited the Byron Street Hotel after closing time at 2.10 am. In a brawl, a police officer was punched in the face and had his shirt torn.
Three men, aged 18, 28 and 32 years. were arrested on the spot, and another was arrested the day after. They will appear in court on July 20 after being granted strict conditional bail.
Further arrests are expected. Police also issued the Hotel Licensee an Infringement Notice.
