More than 400 people packed into Wests League Club where seven major category awards were presented to the best apprentices, trainees and vocational students.
The winners will go on to represent the region at the State Awards in Sydney.
Special category awards were also presented on the night in recognition of high achievements in a number of Industry areas.
BAE systems apprentice Jake Sheppeard took home the title of 2017 Apprentice of the Year for his work in the aviation industry.
Donald Dundas took home the Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander apprentice of the year award for his work as an apprentice plumber for the Warrumbungle Shire Council. Holly Bourke was named the School Based Trainee award for her work at the Commonwealth Bank at Inverell
Organisers of the event said the standard was high for nominations this year with the event hosted by Michael Hansen with New England apprentice of the year and state runner up Courtney Harrison, the guest speaker.
The regional winners will now prepare for their State interviews in the hope of progressing to the State Finals in Sydney, in September.
NSW Department of Industry Training Services Manager, Bede Maher described the calibre of nominees as “outstanding.”
“(A)fantastic evening that recognised many outstanding achievers from throughout the New England region,” Mr Maher said.
“A very big thank you to all the family members, friends, employers, trainers and assessors who attended the night.
“It just goes to show that Vocational Education and Training is having a very big impact in the New England region.
“We heard glimpses of the finalist's stories - what they are doing, what they are achieving and what their intentions are. It is amazing to hear the work and dedication from individuals who have been given an opportunity to complete a qualification, learn new skills and be recognised for their efforts.”
