Inverell East Rotary Club president, Larry Whitbread, awarded the Paul Harris fellowships on Tuesday June 27, in recognition of the “outstanding contributions” made by the two Rotarians.
Club publicity officer Don Learmonth said Ms Clendinning, an Inverell High School teacher and former Rotary club president, had contributed to a number of local and district activities particularly involving young people.
“Julie was quite emotional on receiving the award which was a very deserving one,” he said.
Mr Cowperthwaite was also recognised “for his great work” with young people.
“Andy died last November and the award was accepted by his parents who spoke of the wonderful support they had received from the people of Inverell who knew just how much Andy did for the community,” Mr Learmonth said.
