The Redmen ran rings around their opponents on Saturday but could have extended the margin if their shots had hit their target.
“The way we've been working at training is keep holding the ball,” Norths co-coach Scott Freeman said.
“That worked really well the first half, I didn't see any of the second half but talking with Neil [Wheaton] the second half we were giving them a dust up. If we had finished, Neil said the score should have been 15 or 16.
“In those sorts of games we have to finish more because if we finish on the same sort of points as OVA, it will come down to goal difference and they have a better goal difference than what we do at the moment so that will put us in second.”
The midfielders once again dominated the game while the Redmen defenders “just gelled” to hold out Joeys. Freeman said his team will want to make every shot count this Saturday when they come up against South Armidale.
“That in itself is going to be a challenge too because they seem to lift, we could be the bottom two teams in the competition and the game means nothing but Souths and us is always a very physical game. They love playing us,” he said.
