The Homelessness Action Team consists of many local services that come together to help those in need and to consider early intervention strategies to avoid homelessness.
The day is a chance to provide information about homelessness, how services can help and who to contact when in need. The aim is to deliver these messages and assistance in an environment that maintains dignity, connects people to services they need and acknowledges that everyone is a valued member of the Inverell community.
The day is modelled after numerous Community Connect Days that are held across the country each year to assist thousands of people.
The event serves as an opportunity for people who may be struggling to maintain a tenancy or who are homeless to work with service providers and other community members to create solutions for those challenging experiences.
The information provided may not be for those in attendance, but it may be beneficial for their friends, families or loved ones.
Everyone is invited to attend, and there will be food, donated blankets, activities and lucky door prizes on the day.
There will be a Community Connect Day in Glen Innes on the following day – Wednesday, August 30th.
