“We’re looking to partner with landholders of 10 to 200 hectare properties to promote the creation of shelterbelts and habitats for critters, and to enhance biodiversity on farms,” Gymac Landcare coordinator Anya Salmon said.
Gymac will supply the seedlings, protective cartons and stakes, along with a subsidy for fencing if needed to protect plantings from livestock.
In exchange, the landholders prepare the ground for the seedlings and install the fencing if required.
“We’re also offering the opportunity to have us pay for a contractor to plant the seedlings in the ground,” Ms Salmon said.
While Gwymac’s project focuses on the wider Inverell district, other Landcare networks will be rolling out similar projects in Tenterfield, Glenn Innes and Armidale.
“All up, there’ll be about another 40,000 trees planted throughout the Northern Tablelands region,” Ms Salmon said.
For more information or an application form, contact Gwymac’s Kylie Sutherland on 6721 1241 or email office@gwymaclandcare.net.au or call into their office at the Country Fair Building.
Applications close 30th September 2017.
