In 2012 I was crowned the Sapphire City Princess, I was very overwhelmed with joy of becoming the princess and it made me even more eager to enter the Queen competition as soon as I was old enough.
Four years later I entered the Sapphire City Queen competition and was lucky enough to take home the crown.
I feel very privileged to be called the Sapphire City Queen and recommend all young ladies of Inverell to take this amazing opportunity to enter in the years to come.
You don’t have to be the most confident or elegant person to enter. Entering defiantly gives you the boost of confidence you need in life and it is a great opportunity to attend specialised events in the community that you wouldn’t normally go to.
After winning the Sapphire City Queen I was overwhelmed with the support I received from the community as days I would be down the street casually doing my own thing and people would come up to me and congratulate me, majority of the time I wouldn’t know who these people were.
I even had people coming into my workplace just to congratulate me and wish me all the best for my year as Sapphire City Queen.
I personally believe this is a great competition that all young ladies should enter at some point during their lives as it also gives you a lot of community knowledge and publicity which is great if you ever apply for jobs within the town.
I would like to personally thank the Sapphire City Festival Committee for all their wonderful work they put into arranging events and girls for the festival each and every year and I hope every young lady that will read this will take the opportunity and get involved in the years to come.
- Gaby Watkins made her dream come true when she became Inverell’s 60th Sapphire City Queen. She had a wonderful time and highly recommends the experience to any young woman as it gave her confidence and gave her a chance to experience the community in a way few people are able to. On Tuesday night, the four young candidates vying for this year’s crown attended the launching of the Sapphire City Festival that takes place from October 20-29.
