One of Inverell Shire’s last wooden bridges will soon be replaced by a $1 million concrete structure as construction on the new Tin Tot Bridge between Graman and Ashford nears completion. MP Adam Marshall said the new bridge will have a higher dual carriageway to minimise delays to motorists caused by waiting for other traffic to pass; and it will no longer be subject to extended closures after heavy rainfall.

“In addition, truck drivers will appreciate the lifting of weight limits for the first time, allowing B-double trucks to finally take the short road instead of a lengthy detour,” he said.
The state government contributed $800,000 to the project with Inverell Shire Council providing the remaining $200,000. Inverell Shire Council Mayor Paul Harmon described the new bridge as “a great project” for the district
“By removing the load limit, it opens up great economic benefit for the mainly beef farmers in this part of the region,” he said. “It goes a long way towards improving our road infrastructure in the Shire.”
