Industrial action by the region’s paramedics was postponed on Monday after NSW Ambulance agreed to release a summary of a building conditions report and meet with union delegates to discuss the complaints.
Station conditions in Ashford, Inverell, Tamworth, Moree and elsewhere around New England have been identified as being the worst and most negelcted in NSW.
APA member Scott Clarke said the union met with Hunter New England management on Tuesday.
“Our campaign has really put the spotlight on our maintenance issues and our managers have committed to getting out the microscope on all stations across the Sector and in particular across the New England North West,” he said.
“It will now be up to NSW Ambulance Headquarters and the NSW Government to commit funding to addressing these issues.”
Mr Clarke said a meeting would be held soon with NSW Ambulance executive.
“Out of that meeting we are looking to see a commitment to appropriate funding and we want timelines,” he said.
“[Either] NSW Ambulance are committed to providing adequate funding to the maintenance of New England stations or they are not.”
