Thousands of books took up 12 palates at the Goddard Wool Market last week where up to eight Rotary volunteers were spending their days storing and stacking.
Among them was long time organiser of the event Gordon O’Brien.
“I started at least 10 years ago,” he said.
Local Rotarian Peter Lloyd said the event will open on Thursday evening for those about to head out of town for the long weekend; and on Saturday from 8.30am to early to mid afternoon, but not on Sunday as previously reported.
All genres will be available including cooking, gardening, novels and children’s stories. Encyclopedias, which are often donated but rarely sold, will be taken to countries like Papua New Guinea to aid school children with no internet access.
Funds raised will go to support Rotary’s youth programs.
