The five day event kicked off on Monday with 13 matches spanning the U11s, U13s, U15s and U17s age divisions. The U9s and special needs divisions play on Thursday and Friday.
“We’ve seen some very good football and some very good individual players,”event founder and organiser Heinrich Haussler said on the first day.
“The kids are all very excited and I think everyone is glad that it’s finally started.”
Mr Haussler said this year the 12 coaches of the U15s and U17s teams would be asked to vote for the top three performers in each opposition team their players compete against. The results will be tallied and used to decide which players win the awards, student soccer exchanges and overseas scholarships on offer.
“We have connections all around the world and our kids have gone to professional teams in Norway, England, Germany, Spain, the USA and Brazil,” he said.
