Retained firefighters acted quickly to put out a small blaze on the banks of the Macintyre River on Wednesday night, October 11.

The fire crew arrived on the scene of the grass fire between the Inverell Shire Public Library and the Inverell Visitor Information Centre at 8pm. Sweeping across the flames, the fire was put out quickly, however the firemen continued clearing the area to eliminate dangers for nearby cars and gas tanks.
The cause is currently unknown.
