There was plenty of wins and seconds for the Gunnedah kids including Isabelle Moore and Aaron Osmond.

Isabelle was named runner-up in the 12 and under girls singles while Aaron won the B grade competition and was runner-up in the 14 and under boys singles.

The pair said they enjoyed the challenge at the tournament.

“It was a tough competition up there. You just had to play strongly and I just played my own game,” Isabelle said.

“It was a good tournament, there was a few strong players in all the age groups,” Aaron added.

“There was a fair few Gunnedah people, they all went quite well.”

There’s no break for the youngsters with another large group heading to Sydney this weekend for the NSW Junior Development Series State Finals.

The tennis players were expecting another tough tournament following the Bronze AMT & JT tournament in Inverell last weekend.

“It's good just to give yourself a bit of confidence before you go away to a stronger tournament,” Aaron said.

“That [Inverell] was strong but Sydney has all the kids from all the regions coming in.”

“There’ll be some Sydney kids up there so it’ll be tough to play them,” Isabelle added.

“But it’ll be good for us country kids because we’ll be getting more practice and get used to playing against them.”
