Independent candidate Rob Taber is revisiting his hometown as he prepares for the New England by-election. Currently living in Armidale, Mr Taber was born in Inverell.

He is one of the more well known names in the 17 candidate race, and has challenged Barnaby Joyce in two previous elections.
“We need to keep the independent dream alive,” he said.
Mr Taber said that if he were to be elected, he would fight for every town in his electorate.
He was passionate about stimulating business in rural areas, investment in renewable energy and the maintenance of energy pricing. Mr Taber said he was involved in mental health, and was determined to make the government face up to “the modern disease” and fund outreach programs accordingly.
A farmer at heart, he had strong opinions about the future of agriculture and finance.
Mr Taber will be at the Inverell RSM Club tonight, Friday, November 17 from 5.30pm for a public meeting. He encourages locals to come along, discuss the issues they are most passionate about and ask questions.
