The ‘Jug’, a four-ball match play, started with a qualifying round back in July and was followed by four knockout rounds and then the final on Saturday.
The final between the teams of Larry Finney/Dave Worgan and Alex Livingston/Toby Teece-Tapscott was a close match with the first 5 holes squared.
Larry and Dave won the next and while fortunes see-sawed were never behind. They won the match two up with one hole to go.
Larry and Dave played to their handicaps and combined well while Toby and Alex were a little under their handicaps on the day.
The Mills Plate finalists were granted an extension and it will be played this Saturday.
In Saturday’s stableford, Bob Albinus had a great round taking out the comp with a net score of 44 points.
Playing off 25 Bob scored 8 under his handicap.
His score included one birdie and 3 pars to pick up 4-four pointers over the 18 holes. Bob was 3 points clear of the next best, Tony Driscoll.
Place getters were Tony Baldwin 40, John Henderson 39, Graham Moore and Herb Cox 38, Dave Worgan 37, Larry Finney and Ken Rainger 36.
The afternoon session became wet and not all starters finished the 18 holes.
